The Straits Times Index (STI) ended 44.21 points or 1.58% higher to 2834.09, taking the year-to-date performance to -1.69%.
The top active stocks today were DBS, which gained 3.77%, Singtel, which declined 0.52%, Noble, which gained 12.64%, UOB, which gained 2.01% and Genting Sing, with a 2.89% advance.
The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index gained 0.82%, while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index rose 1.10%.
The outperforming sectors today were represented by the FTSE ST Oil & Gas Index, which rose 2.99%. The two biggest stocks of the Index - Keppel Corp and Sembcorp Industries- ended 1.87% higher and 2.71% higher respectively.
The underperforming sector was the FTSE ST Real Estate Investment Trusts Index, which slipped 0.60%. CapitaLand Mall Trust shares declined 0.99% and Ascendas REIT declined 1.71%.
